Hangar and Venue Rental
The Central Texas Wing of the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) is housed in one of the last all wooden hangars of the WWII Army Air Corps. In WWII the Army Air Corps Navigation School used this building for training Navigators and maintenance of AT-7 training aircraft. The spacious building, leased from the city of San Marcos, allows the Wing to maintain and fly seven aircraft from the CAF’s inventory of 180 vintage flying aircraft that are distributed among 83 Wings and Squadrons worldwide. Many improvements have been made over the years of our lease but the hangar still retains its original aura. A WWII aviation museum is available on the hangar deck and a 3000-volume aviation library on the second floor both are climate controlled.
The ground floor’s well lighted hangar deck can host a function of up to 1200 people, however it is not climate controlled. This space can be divided for rental into one, two or three sections depending on requirements. The hangar also has a second-floor climate-controlled Officers Club with can accommodate 35 guests and boasts a kitchen, bar and serving counter. A first-floor climate-controlled Briefing Room can easily handle 25 guests.
All first-floor spaces and rest rooms are ADA compliant. Second floor access to the Officers Club, and Library is by one of three stairways, one of which has a chair lift (no elevators). There are rest rooms available on the second floor between the Club and Library, one is ADA compliant.
